CAUTION / WARNING TO METRO CRASH VICTIMS - WMATA Seeks to Avoid DC Metro Lawsuits: Washington Metro (WMATA) has established an emergency hardship relief fund for some survivors and the families of the victims who were on board metro train 112 or 214 with immediate needs concerning medical bills, funeral, travel expenses and other immediate expenses. Washington Metro has already publicly admitted that they have set up this relief fund, in part, to make direct contact with victims before they have an opportunity to speak with an attorney or better understand their legal rights and to avoid lawsuits against the DC Metro. WMATA would, of course, like to avoid as many victim lawsuits and low-ball as many Metro Crash settlements as they can. Metro wants to avoid lawsuits if they can, and avoid paying full compensation by settlement or trial to train accident victims and their family members. It is critical that any relief provided by Washington Metro does not include any release of claims for the more substantial damages for lost wages, loss of earning potential, loss of services, pain and suffering, emotional damages such as PTSD and other losses for which Washington Metro will be responsible for by way of settlement, litigation or in a jury trial under law.
