Our accident lawyers continue to investigate the tour bus accident of a bus owned by D.W. Tours and driven by Han Dong which occurred Saturday afternoon, outside Hoover Dam in Arizona. As we suspected. It is now confirmed that the D.W. Tours bus did not have seat belts available to the passengers, several of whom were thrown from the bus when it rolled and fatally injured. This suggests liability not only against the bus operator D.W. Tours but against the manufacturer Starcraft on a product liability claims. (Note that all references to seat belts have been removed from the Starcraft web site, although the seat belt option clearly appears in the "Create A Bus" web site archive information from 2007).

The preliminary information is that the tour bus was traveling north. The driver lost control of the bus which drifted off the left side of the roadway. The bus driver overcorrected to the right, which caused the bus to travel across the northbound travel lanes, then off the roadway to the right, onto the dirt shoulder.

I know someone who drove a bus and she said the kids would use belts as weapons. I guess there would be ways to make the belts so they cannot be flogged around. Has anyone proposed a new type of belt?

Here is what we are hearing. The preliminary information is that the tour bus was traveling north. The driver lost control of the bus which drifted off the left side of the roadway. The bus driver overcorrected to the right, which caused the bus to travel across the northbound travel lanes, then off the roadway to the right, onto the dirt shoulder.
At that point, the driver over-corrected again and the bus traveled back across the northbound lanes into the depressed center median where it proceeded onto the southbound travel lanes where it rolled over and came to rest.
