Apr. 14--NORFOLK, Va. - A federal grand jury is expected to take additional testimony today from survivors of the tanker Bow Mariner.

The ship exploded and sank off Virginia's coast Feb. 28, claiming 21 lives.

Crew members apparently were cleaning some of the ship's empty cargo tanks when the explosion occurred, according to preliminary information from the owners and Coast Guard investigators. It is not known if that activity contributed to the explosion.
