Answer filed in defamation lawsuit:
Ann-Marie Nichols is one of the defendants listed in a $6 million defamation lawsuit filed by Loretta DiAnne Cruse. Nichols filed an answer to the lawsuit Wednesday in Baxter County Circuit Court.
The lawsuit, filed in May, alleges the Web site www.teachersmackdown.com and others affiliated with the site published comments that were false, malicious and defamatory and harmed Cruse's reputation, according to the lawsuit.
Nichols stated the cause of action against her is barred in whole or in part by the Communications Decency Act, according to court documents. She also stated that if Cruse was injured or damaged as alleged, which was denied, it was the fault of third persons over which Nichols had no control.
